The Roots of Change
In a time calling for new ways of seeing and leading, Earth Shadow invites leaders and changemakers to engage the deeper forces that shape our world – and awaken new possibilities for healing, bridging, and building a livable world.
What We Do
We help environmental leaders and organizations integrate the parts of themselves they’ve left behind – transforming fear, grief, and conflict into creativity, resilience, power, and love.
Through shadow work, we illuminate and transform the unseen forces that shape our movements and our world.
Understanding the Shadow
When our collective organizing efforts struggle, it’s often not from lack of commitment or vision but because something unspoken is at play – tensions, judgments, or unmet needs that erode trust and momentum. These are expressions of the shadow: the parts of our shared humanity we disown, yet that still shape how we lead and relate. Without attention and the skills to work with these dynamics, we risk recreating the very systems we’re trying to change.
But the shadow isn’t only a source of struggle. It also holds power and possibility. When we meet these parts with curiosity and care, they can help us access creative new ways of seeing the world and approaching complex challenges.
How We Work
We work with three interconnected layers of shadow:
Personal
The inner patterns that limit our capacity to lead and love.
Collective
The hidden dynamics within movements and organizations.
Systemic
The cultural and historical forces shaping the world we’re changing.
Together, these layers form the living field where transformation takes root.
Our Offerings
The Inner Ecology of Leadership: An Earth Shadow Online Journey
A 3-month live online journey for environmental leaders ready to explore shadow as a pathway to deeper impact and aliveness.
The Earth Shadow Intensive
A 4-day small-group in-person retreat for organizational leaders who want to engage shadow through group process, embodied practice, and deep play.
Together, these experiences cultivate networks of leaders capable of transforming not just themselves, but the cultures of their organizations and movements.
In Conversation with the Earth
The living world teaches that everything has its place and its purpose – the night is just as valuable as the day, and the deep soil matters just as much as what grows above it. Our inner lives work the same way. When we can recognize the shadows in ourselves and in our collective spaces as part of what makes us whole, we can learn to work with them skillfully, the way ecosystems use every layer. When we match how the Earth itself operates, our work in service to the Earth becomes more creative, more connected, more grounded, and more powerful.
If something in this speaks to you, we invite you to join us in the exploration.
